A hackathon is a sprint like event where people get together to create a product in a short amount of time. In a truly collaborative setting, hackathons explore new tools and innovative methods of science communication, knowledge diffusion, and community building.
The SCE:NE hackathon is an opportunity for participants to approach problems in order to create novel solutions. Participants will work in multidisciplinary groups of 3-5 individuals, in a collaborative and intensive marathon to materialize projects related with the topics of biodiversity and sustainability.
Yes. The venue strictly complies with every safety guideline mandated by the Portuguese health authorities and the University of Porto. However, if you can't attend in person, it's possible to participate remotely via a Discord server which will be sent, along with usage instructions, before the event.
In order to explore the most out of the array of digital media technologies currently available, participants are expected to bring their own equipment (e.g. film camera, VR hardware, laptops, arduinos, raspberry pi, sensor technologies, BCIs) for the production of the artefact to be submitted. We’ll provide as much as we can.
