Francisca Rocha Gonçalves

Combining her interests in sound, technology, art and science, she aims to raise environmental awareness in society, promoting environmental education through artistic practices and sound art. Her great passion for biology and music led her on-demand to find synergies between nature and sound. Bridging these two worlds, she attempts to find new musical approaches, not only for musical compositions but also for live performances. She is a researcher at INESC TEC and co-founder of the Ocean Soundscape Awareness project – ØSAW.

Rodrigo Carvalho

OPENFIELD Creative Lab

Rodrigo Carvalho (Porto, 1983), is a multimedia designer & new media artist. He has a degree in Design from U.Aveiro (Aveiro, 2005), a Master in Digital Arts from U. Pompeu Fabra (Barcelona, ​​2009) and a Doctorate in Digital Media from U. Porto / UT Austin Colab (Porto, 2018). His work explores visuals and interactive devices for the creation of audiovisual performances, installations and immersive spaces. He has been exhibited at various national and international events such as: Sonar Festival (Barcelona), Mutek (Barcelona), ISEA (Dubai), Imminente (Lisbon) among others. He is also the visual side of the BorisChimp504 project and co-founder of the creative studio Openfield Creative Lab.

Ivo Teixeira

Ivo Teixeira is a visual artist and Invited Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University in Porto. He holds a PhD in Digital Media - Creation of Audiovisual and Interactive Content (2018), with a research grant from the Foundation for Science and Technology in the UT Austin | Portugal Program, where he explored the relationship of the body with audiovisual systems in physical contexts. Co-founder of the creative studio Openfield Creative Lab, where he currently holds the position of creative director and project director.

Soraia Ferreira

Yellow Pictures

Soraia is a transmedia storytelling consultant and trainer at Yellow Pictures. She teaches transmedia storytelling, interactive storytelling and documentary at the Master in Multimedia at University of Porto; transmedia storytelling at Kino Eyes - The European Movie Masters and storytelling at Porto Tourism School of Turismo de Portugal. Founder of the production companies Yellow Pictures and Yellow Films, she has created and produced the feature film 'Star Crossed', and the transmedia storytelling projects 'TravelPlot Porto' (2012) and 'StorySD' (2017). In 2018, she published her first book on Amazon, 'Travel Guide for Kids – Age of Discoveries'. Since 2003 she has produced numerous narrative shorts in Los Angeles, Porto and Lisbon, and has been speaking and publishing on the topic of storytelling since 2009.

Johannes Goessling

International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory

Johannes is a scientist with particular interest in sustainability concepts based on biotechnology. During his previous work at the University of Copenhagen and the International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory in Braga, Johannes demonstrated that microscopic algae, the diatoms, evolved precise nano-photonic structures, reminiscent of those used in modern quantum technologies. Johannes proposes that high-tech standards and ecological sustainability do not have to be mutually exclusive. Portugal, with it´s large diversity of diatoms throughout the country, could become a future hub for sustainable nanotechnology and natural inspiration.

An Entrepreneur with a Degree in Human Biology and Music with a special talent to turn ideas into sellable products, Candy is the co-founder of Dimmersions (an Immersive Tech startup creating XR experiences and products) and LIM9 (an International Creative Digital Agency founded in 2011). Pedro Cardoso

Pedro Cardoso is a Designer, an Assistant Professor at the Lusophone University of Porto, and an Assistant Guest Professor at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto where he pursues studies in the contexts of Game Design, and Interaction and Experience Design. Ana Campilho

CIBIO-UP

Ana Campilho graduated in Biology from the University of Porto (1996) and obtained a MSc in Cell Biology from the University of Coimbra (2001). She completed her PhD degree (2005) in Molecular Genetics from the University of Utrecht, The Netherlands. Next, she moved to Finland for research work at the “wood development group”, University of Helsinki. There, she researched on the genetic control of plant vascular tissue patterning, identity and differentiation. Ana Campilho returned to Portugal in 2009 as a researcher, first at the Institute of Cell and Molecular Biology (IBMC) and at present at Research Centre in Biodiversity and Genetic Resources (CIBIO), University of Porto. She is also invited assistant professor at Faculty of Sciences from the same University. Her research interests still focus on the molecular regulation of plant pattern formation as well as plant developmental adaptations to the environment.

Raquel Vasconcelos

CIBIO-UP

Raquel Vasconcelos is a researcher of CIBIO-InBIO, Research Centre in Biodiversity and Genetic Resources, University of Porto (UP) since 2019, and member of the Conservation Genetics and Wildlife Management (CONGEN) research group. She is expert in combining genetic and ecological data for assisting conservation planning using island reptiles as privileged models. She was born in Porto, graduated in Terrestrial Biology in the University of Lisbon in 2003, and completed her PhD in Biology in the UP in 2011. Then, she got a post-doctoral grant to use a multidisciplinary approach to study the Socotra reptiles in Yemen from 2012–2017 at CIBIO-InBIO and the Institute of Evolutionary Biology (IBE-CSIC), Spain. In parallel with her research, she has been deeply involved in promoting academic training and capacity building in Cabo Verde, as well as developing outreach activities, such as production of documentaries, and edition of books to non-scientific audiences.

Raquel Ribeiro

As a kid wanted to be a forest ranger in Africa and defend animals from poachers. Graduated in Biology having started her professional life in applied nature conservation, in a national project. She realized that Portuguese biodiversity is just as fascinating as that of distant lands and that it needs equal protection, even though from very different perils. After her PhD, in urban biodiversity, has been dedicated, since 2012, to raising awareness and promoting biodiversity associated with various institutions such as the Serralves Foundation, CIBIO-InBIO and, presently, the MHNC-UP.

Marta Mendonça

Marta has built most of her career in Marketing & Sales, having worked with various brands, countries, industries and companies. In the past few years, before joining Porto Protocol, Marta was working with her own brand and consultancy project, through which she took sustainability and climate advocacy to schools, events and companies, promoting awareness and encouraging change. Cristina Crava

Cristina is an Environmental Engineer, a Safety and Health at Work Advanced Technician and holds a Post-Graduation in Management. She has built most of her career in an academic setting, at Católica University, in Porto, first as a teacher and as the scientific coordinator for the Environmental Quality Specialized Course and later on, as Advanced Training Manager. Cristina always worked in environmental consultancy across various industries, alongside her educational path, and still finds the time to manage, along with her family, their Vinho Verde project.
